What fun to take a peek in your lovely house! It's nice to know that I am not the only one with a dirty floor! Lol! And my table looks pretty similar too!

Ali

Very honest Simmy! Our old house had a serious woodlouse issue. It was a race between me and the then-toddler to see who could get to them first each morning - he was convinced they were raisins. Crunchy ones. Mmmmmm.

martha

LOL! The inside of my place looks just like yours! No cats to mess it up, just an almost-3-year-old instead.

dottycookie

Oh you did make me laugh; my house is a lot like that - only without the building work which looks grim now but is going to be fabulous when it's done!

And I'm very touched to be nominated by you - and amongst such comapny too. Thank you!

Lesley

I love it! I know I would feel right at home there. I decided to clear out our conservatory today (could hardly get in there) and had to vacuum up the biggest pile of soil brought in by the ants that live under the floor. Oh and the slug pellets that had been put down to keep those blighters away :] I just know I would always rather have a coffee & some G&B than tackle my dusty corners.

Sarah

You are too funny! What a great post. I am looking forward to exploring some new blogs. I say, have some Pims and hire someone to do a good fall cleaning for you :-)

Angela

Just keep chanting...it will be worth it all! LOL What a lovely stoop you will have.

Marie

Ahhhhh... Green and Black's ginger, you're a woman after my own heart Simmy! The heck with the house!!! Having raised five very busy children I can attest to the fact that one day they will all be gone and you will have more than enough hours in your day to get to and clean up any mess that you think needs cleaning up. In fact, it probably won't even get that messy at all. Amazingily enough you will long for the days when you had a houseful of kids messing it up and you may even find yourself creating a bit of a mess just to make yourself feel better about it!! (that's my excuse anyways!) Thanks so much for the lovely awards! You do surprise me!

How I love your honesty Simmy - no sugar coating here :))

lee

You made me laugh this morning! Many thanks for your honesty... I am having similar problems, except with ants and sand and grit and two girls shedding (who knew? I thought it was just dogs or cats) plus my own hair falling out. It wouldn't be so bad if my Da wasn't visiting this weekend, with an attitude that prefers neatness.

Dannielle

Simmy, I just love you!

It's so refreshing to see someone being so *real*. My kitchen table is just as cluttered (mostly with McDonald's packaging...no gourmet cooking going on here!) I picked up dinner because there weren't enough clean dishes available. ;-)

Tracy

I can see what you are in of comforting chocolate...LOL! (btw, is that a new G&B? I've not seen that one yet here in Norway) I had to laugh, I'm sorry! Never a dull moment, it looks like there. Looks like you have a very nice house/property all in all though. One day, before you are a pensioner, it will all get sorted ;o) Keep the chocolate handy in the meantime. Congrats on all the awards--well done, and well deserved! And thank you so much for giving me one in turn--you are a sweetheart! Happy Weekend to you & yours ((HUGS))

Rebecca

It sort of cheers me up to see that someone else has corners like mine, especially that kitchen table and the shoe room, how can children move so much stuff in the space of a day? You definitely deserve a sofa/chocolate break, I may join you.

Mae

Omigoodness Simmy! I haven't been reading (or writing) all that regularly over the summer but I've just read your last few posts. Your life has been CRAZY! I am so glad that your big USA holiday went so smoothly for all of you. And now your house is in a bit of a transition. I imagine that everyone is still basking in the afterglow of a great summer. Hang on to that - the cleaning and so one will happen eventually!

Joss

Hurray - both for the awards and the fact you've made me feel a whole load better! - there should be a special category for that!

found your blog by accident today (whilst searching for a course in stained glass-making) and got stuck in it.
Love your crafty ideas - I do a fair bit of felting and my girls and I have made those roving angels before. We made some gorgeous felted poinsettia flowers last christmas which I can send you a pic of if you fancy having a go at making them.
kep going with you blog! (have put addres of my blog above, but mine isn't too crafty, more ramblings and the odd recipe).
Best wishes
Debra

I love it that you are so true and down-to-earth. Your home looks much as mine did with 5 kids, 2 dogs,3 cats and live-in in-laws! lol. Don't be glum. Your home is a gorgeous structure and will be fantastic when it's all done!!

Simmy, you have completely the right attitude to it all - retreat to comfort zone and consume chocolate - always makes the world seem a better place! Also, on a practical level it means you can gather your strength for the 'big clean-up' once all the builders have departed - you're a wise lady xxx

Jessi

I haven't commented before but I just had to this time. With 2 boys, a 4 year old and a 14 month old, a dog and 2 cats, my house is always covered in cars and hair. It makes me feel better to know there I'm not the only one with a mess and rather than tackle it, is relaxing eating chocolate. :)

Daphne

Oh me, too. Only one cat spreading hair *all* over the place and many, many messes to deal with. And I'm "working" right now -- Sunday night at home! sigh. At least it's nearly dessert time.

Rowan

Congratulations on the award and thanks for passing it on to me too.
I just love this post, it really made me laugh. As for the resident spiders! They are bad this year, we've had several really big ones in the house already. They are rehomed as I don't like killing them, it isn't their fault that I'm scared rigid of them. DH usually does the home removals bit but last night I had a choice - remove the large spider myself or share my bedroom with it - DH is over at the other house for the weekend. I gritted my teeth and did the deed, nearly having heart failure in the process!

Your house is so beautiful, no wonder the buggies want to come visit :-)

Now, give it up....where can I find the patterns for the knitted veggies?!

Wild Rose

Your home is definitely a work in progress Simmy. I had to smile though when I saw the photos.

Isn't Green & Black's chocolate delicious?

Wow - LOVED your "corners!" Mine look just like that!!! Thanks for sharing them, I feel much better now! There just seem to be an awful lot of immaculate and perfect houses out there, don't you think? Have a great day!

Wow! I love your house- it is beautiful!! Ok- it looks like mine on the inside at the moment(which made me feel better about our house), but the outside is just lovely. You have a nice view and you will have a beautiful garden area- you are so lucky. With those "slopes", couldn't you use fieldstone and sort of make your wond little walls- just along the sides of the ridges? That is what I did when we lived in Virginia- I found fieldstone and sort of made my own little "walls"- they weren't very high, but they did the job. I love your place- it looks like it's straight out of a faerie tale, before the plants grew wild and mad it magical.
